Reports: Lerner Set To Sell Aston Villa To U.K.-Based Group

Randy Lerner reportedly is "finally set to sell" EPL club Aston Villa this summer, as he has been "in talks with a U.K.-based group for a number of months." It is believed that Lerner will make US$222M from the sale, which is "quite the profit" on the US$94M he paid Doug Ellis in '05. The "one major stumbling block currently slowing down negotiations is Aston Villa's jeopardised Premier League status" (BIRMINGHAMMAIL.co.uk, 3/29).
