Morning Hot Reads: CFP National Championship Edition

Ahead of tonight's inaugural CFP National Championship Game, the MIAMI HERALD's Greg Cote writes, "College football is and will be better for its playoff." The Oregon-Ohio State matchup "offers the perfect, instant validation," as the CFP and its selection committee "could not have prearranged the semifinal results any better to drive the point" (MIAMI HERALD, 1/12). The AP's Tim Dahlberg writes, "The event the playoff resembles most isn't the Final Four, but the Super Bowl" (AP, 1/10).

But under the header, "College Football Championship Still Faces Challenges," the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER's Barry Jacobs writes, "You can appreciate college football and still question placing greater demands on the bodies and minds of players, who are supposedly students first" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 1/12).
