Adidas' Apparel Deal With Miami Ends Long-Running Nike Pact

adidas has "outbid its competitors to become the new supplier" of apparel for the Univ. of Miami, "ending the school's pioneering partnership with Nike." A source said that adidas and UM will announce the deal this week, "beginning the process of replacing a brand connected to the Hurricanes for the last 27 years." adidas' bid is "believed to be in the ballpark" of the eight-year, $33M pact it announced with Arizona State last month. Miami was the first college to "sign an all-sports contract" with Nike (PALMBEACHPOST.com, 1/5).
