Sources Say Jim Harbaugh To Michigan Is A Done Deal

Sources said that Jim Harbaugh "has signed an agreement" to become Michigan's 20th football coach and will be introduced today. UM interim AD Jim Hackett and school spokespersons "basically have declined all comment" during the coaching search. After a noon ET news conference, UM "intends to introduce Harbaugh to fans" during its 3:00pm home men's basketball game against Illinois (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 12/30).

Harbaugh reportedly has signed a six-year deal worth $48-50M, which would "make him the highest-paid coach in college football" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/30).

Music City Bowl's LSU-Notre Dame Matchup Brings Crowd, Buzz

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl President & CEO Scott Ramsey said that more than 60,000 tickets have been sold to tonight's LSU-Notre Dame matchup at LP Field. Both teams "sold their 8,000-ticket allotment." The stadium seats about 67,000 (THEADVOCATE.com, 12/30). This is "by far the most compelling matchup in the bowl's history." These are "two national brands, with legions of loyal fans who have brought the party to Nashville" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 12/30).

Texas Bowl Draws Record Crowd, While Other Bowls See Declines

By Austin Karp

The AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl saw a record crowd of 71,115 for the nine-year-old event at NRG Stadium as Arkansas defeated Texas 31-7. That figure comes on the heels of last year’s record-low crowd of 32,327 for the Syracuse-Minnesota matchup. This year was the first of a six-year deal matching teams from the SEC and Big 12. Meanwhile, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl saw 51,282 fans for Texas A&M’s 45-37 win over West Virginia yesterday, marking the event’s lowest figure since UCF-Georgia drew 51,231 fans in '10.

Clemson’s 40-6 win over Oklahoma at the Russell Athletic Bowl last night drew 40,071 fans to the recently renovated Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, marking the lowest figure for the event since Clemson-Colorado in '05 (31,470).

Limited Playoff Tickets Remain For Seahawks, Cowboys Games

The Seahawks today will begin selling “a limited number of tickets” for the Jan. 10 NFC divisional-round playoff game at CenturyLink Field. The general public will “fight over slim pickings after 98 percent of season-ticket holders reserved tickets for the divisional game” (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 12/30).

Meanwhile, fewer than 1,000 tickets remained for Sunday’s Lions-Cowboys playoff game as of yesterday afternoon. There are “expected to be scattered single seats available” today and tomorrow (DALLASNEWS.com, 12/20).
