Penn State on Saturday defeated Boston College 31-30 in OT at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl in front of 49,012 fans at Yankee Stadium, “breaking last year's attendance record of 47,122” for the Notre Dame-Rutgers game (MLB.com, 12/27).

The NYRA has “raised purses at some key stakes races” for Saratoga Race Course’s 147th meet next summer. The 40-day meet, which runs from July 24 through Labor Day, will feature 69 stakes worth a record $18.7M in purses (AP, 12/29).
