Herbstreit And Fowler Dish On CFP, Dangers Of "College GameDay"

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night and discussed the College Football Playoff. Host Jimmy Kimmel noted “people are mad about” the four teams selected for the CFP “even though they did it to kind of calm people down." Fowler said, “It's college football. They are always going to be angry and upset. It’s part of the sport.” Herbstreit said of being accused of being a “homer” because he attended Ohio State, "When I say things bad about Ohio State, then I'm being professional. When I say something positive about Ohio State, I'm a homer."

Kimmel said of ESPN's "College GameDay" show, “You guys do this show live on college campuses in front of thousands of what seems to be mostly drunken fans. … They go nuts, they dress up, they have these signs.” Fowler said, “There's a cat-and-mouse game between college kids, who think they're clever, and middle-aged people in our production truck on urban dictionary trying to figure out, 'Is that offensive? Should we pull that one down?'” Fowler said of things being thrown at them during their broadcast, “We have a net now, Jimmy. But before the net we had beers, golf balls, radishes, Nerf footballs.” Herbstreit: “Corn. They threw corn at us in Nebraska” ("Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 12/9).
