NBA Signs Lease For Larger Flagship Store Location In N.Y.

The NBA has signed a lease for 25,000 square feet of retail space on the corner of 45th and Fifth Ave. in Manhattan that will become the league’s flagship store within a year. The new NBA Store will open in time for the '15 holiday shopping season and will be built in space at 545 Fifth Ave. that held a Michael C. Fina store for the past 15 years, but is now unoccupied. The new NBA emporium will have three levels and will be more than four times as large as the NBA Store that the league opened four years ago, three blocks north on Fifth Ave. That retail location near the northwest corner at 48th, which league officials have been calling “temporary” since it opened in October '11, will be shuttered in August '15 when its lease expires.
