"You really just hope for good games, night after night, good, tight games, and you get to that Game 6, you get to that Game 7" – Fox Sports President & COO Eric Shanks, on whether Fox would prefer a World Series featuring big-market teams, or one that reaches seven games (NEWSDAY, 10/21).

"There's not anyone talking about change in that rule right now. All of those things will be debated by all of the conferences and the member presidents going forward" – NCAA President Mark Emmert, asserting that the organization is not considering allowing compensation for autographs and signed memorabilia (AP, 10/20).

"The general belief here is we don’t want to leave anyone outside the building. If the city really steps up, we have some options. I hope there’s a big rush" – Whitecaps co-Owner Jeff Mallett, on potentially increasing capacity at BC Place beyond its usual 21,000 for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Rapids, which the Whitecaps must win to secure a spot in the MLS Playoffs (Vancouver PROVINCE, 10/21).

"You have such a deep sports betting culture. It’s a huge market. ... New Jersey will overtake Nevada alone – just on population and the population density of the area" – William Hill U.S. CEO and former Nevada casino sports book operator Joseph Asher, who believes New Jersey could become the leader in sports books if the state proceeds with legalized sports betting (CBSSPORTS.com, 10/20).

Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
