“Don’t they play football in inclement weather?” – Jackson County (Kan.) Legislator Crystal Williams, who introduced a measure urging the NFL to consider K.C.’s Arrowhead Stadium for a future Super Bowl (K.C. STAR, 9/16).

"I do not even think about trying to manage this (athletics) department independently of the AD. I have a certain role to play in a few areas, coaching contracts for example. ... but if the AD is not doing the job they should do, then we change ADs" – Missouri Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin, on working with AD Mike Alden (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/16).

“We don’t know how we’ll do that yet” – UMass AD John McCutcheon, whose program may play as an FBS independent in ’16 and ’17 with only five home games, on complying with an NCAA rule requiring schools to play at least 50% of home games at one venue. The team current splits home games between Gillette Stadium and Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium (DAILY HAMPSHIRE GAZETTE, 9/16).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
