Paul McCartney Concert Proves To Be "Fitting Farewell" For Candlestick

Paul McCartney last night played the last event at the soon-to-be-demolished Candlestick Park before a crowd of 49,000 fans "clapping, shimmying and dancing in the aisles." The concert featured "a lot of familiar things" at the stadium, such as "long lines, blustery wind, 49ers and Giants fans, (and) a few former hippies." Candlestick "seemed to rival McCartney ... as the biggest draw, judging by the clothes most people were wearing" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/15).
