Actor Sean Astin Explains CFP System In New Video From ESPN

ESPN takes its first stab at marketing the upcoming college football playoff with a 1:41 video starring Sean Astin, who played Rudy Ruettiger in the film "Rudy." The video, created by Wieden + Kennedy, N.Y., will be featured mainly on ESPN's digital and social media platforms. In the ad, Astin is dressed in Ruettiger's Notre Dame uniform and reprises his locker-room speech from the movie. In this video, however, he explains the College Football Playoff system. The speech ends with him saying, "Now, this is going to go into effect in about 40 years – the year 2014" (John Ourand, Staff Writer).

Meanwhile, the CFP today “plans to unveil” the new national championship trophy, which is sponsored by Dr Pepper in a six-year deal (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/11).
