ManU Reports Q3 Revenues Up Despite Sub-Par Season On Pitch

EPL club Manchester United today reported Q3 revenues were up by 26%, boosted by "TV and commercial revenues." The results help the club "swallow the bitter pill of a wretched season." ManU Exec Vice Chair Ed Woodward said that new manager Louis Van Gaal "will be given the funds in the summer transfer window to make United competitive again." Net Q3 profits were $18M (all figures US), up from $5M in the year-ago period. Revenues hit $193.6M as the EPL's "enhanced TV rights deals kicked in." Commercial revenues rose 19% and sponsorship revenues were up 43.5% (FT.com, 5/15).
