Lindsey Vonn Announces She Will Not Compete In Sochi Games

U.S. Skier Lindsey Vonn on the "Today" show this morning announced that she will not compete in the Sochi Games due to injuries to her right knee. Vonn in a statement said, “I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level.” NBC’s Matt Lauer said this is "heartbreaking news for a woman famous for downhill and for some injuries over the last couple of years.” Lauer: “That last injury proved to be an uphill battle that she couldn’t win in time" ("Today," NBC, 1/7).
