Falcons-Bills Game In Toronto Draws Fewer Than 40,000 Fans

Yesterday's Falcons-Bills game at Rogers Centre "started with maybe 20,000 souls in the stands," and the announced crowd of 39,869 was the "smallest for any of the six regular-season games" in Toronto to date. That is "only slightly better" than the crowd of 39,503 on hand for a Colts-Bills preseason game in '10, and the latest number "will give ammunition to Bills fans and media critics that see the Bills in Toronto Series as some kind of abomination" (GLOBE & MAIL, 12/2).

Meanwhile, an online survey indicates an "overwhelming majority of Canadians don't want an NFL team in Canada, especially if it means the demise of the CFL." Of the 1,007 participants, 40% said that they "didn't want an NFL team in Canada at all," while another 41% would "welcome an NFL franchise in this country only if it co-existed with the CFL." The survey, released yesterday, was conducted in mid-November by Univ. of Lethbridge professor Reginald Bibby and pollster Angus Reid Global (CP, 12/1).
