Rogers Centre Brings In 600 Tons Of Sod For Soccer Friendly

A crowd of 38,512 attended last night's Brazil-Chile soccer friendly at Rogers Centre, where 600 tons of sod were "brought in via 17 tractor trailers and installed" for the match at a cost of $250,000. Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, whose team won 2-1, said that the Toronto venue "wasn't an ideal indoor stadium, especially because some turf came loose." But he "didn't consider the conditions a major obstacle" (TORONTO STAR, 11/20).
