The Seattle Times' Larry Stone, who has had the Mariners beat for the past 17 years, has taken a columnist post with the paper. Stone's first column appeared in Sunday's paper under the header, "Flood Of Baseball Memories Before Taking A New Venture" (SEATTLE TIMES, 8/25).

Boyer’s Coffee has partnered with the Broncos and will provide coffee at all concessions stands at Sports Authority Field for the ’13-14 football season (Boyer's Coffee Co.).

A crowd of 29,319 attended yesterday’s $1M Pacific Classic at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The race was won by Game On Dude, whose ownership group includes MLB Exec VP/Baseball Operations Joe Torre (L.A. TIMES, 8/26).

Attendance at Saratoga Race Course was 47,597 on Saturday, which included the 144th Travers Stakes. That is up 2% from '12 (WNYT.com, 8/25).

An aerial drone on Saturday “crashed into the grandstand at Virginia Motorsports Park during the Great Bull Run.” Four or five people “suffered very minor injuries” and were treated at the speedway. The drone was “being used to capture video of the event” (WASHINGTON POST, 8/26).
