MLB Awaits Decision From A-Rod On Possible Biogenesis Settlement

MLB officials today hope to know if Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez will agree to a deal in the Biogenesis case that "would effectively end” his career, but “possibly preserve a big portion of the remaining” $100M on his contract. The settlement reportedly calls for Rodriguez to be suspended through the ’14 season without pay, but would allow him to collect the $60M “the Yankees would owe him from 2015 to 2017.” If Rodriguez declines the deal, the league is “expected to pursue what would be a historic suspension that would ban” Rodriguez for life (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/29).
