Laugh Track....Where The Boys Are

Mercury C Brittney Griner appeared on TBS’ “Conan” last night to discuss her career. TBS’ Conan O’Brien asked, “You are so good, have you ever thought, ‘What about the NBA?’ Have you thought about at least trying out?” Griner: “Mark Cuban actually said he would consider it and I actually would tryout. I would try to play with the boys.” O’Brien: “Do you think it’s possible?” Griner: “It’s up to him. I’m waiting on the call” ("Conan," TBS, 7/15).

NBC’s Jay Leno: “Tomorrow night is baseball’s All-Star Game. You know, the All-Star Game is a great concept. The best players from every team get together into two super teams that play each other. It’s almost like baseball on steroids if you can imagine such a thing. And the USA’s fastest man, sprinter Tyson Gay, has admitted guilt after testing positive for banned substances. Authorities say they first got suspicious back in May when Tyson Gay won the Kentucky Derby. And because of testing positive for banned substances, Tyson was forced to pull out of the World Championships next month in Moscow. When asked what he’s going to do next he said, ‘Either Major League Baseball or cycling.’ Either one of those is open” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 7/15).

CBS’ David Letterman: “Ladies and gentlemen are you excited about the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, right here in New York City? They’ve really made that exciting. It used to be the Summer Classic, and I think it lives up to every sense of that expression. They have the Home Run Derby where guys dislocate their shoulders and can’t play the rest of the year. They have the Hit by a Pitch Derby, which is very exciting. You watch that All-Star Game, nothing is more exciting than watching overpaid players give fifty percent. This year the players’ wives get to bat. But, when you talk about baseball, this steroid thing and Alex Rodriguez, they're saying he may face a ban of 150 games. No A-Rod for 150 games. Think about that. That means Yankees fans will have to wait another full season before they get to see him strike out with bases loaded” (“Late Show,” CBS, 7/15).
