After examining the pace of play in the NFL back in '10, the WALL STREET JOURNAL today runs a piece on the front page of its "Arena" section on the pace of MLB games. Data on three games of roughly three hours in length shows that "a baseball fan will see an average of 17 minutes and 58 seconds of action" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/12).

USA TODAY’s Brady & Berg in a front-page piece examine the disappointing start of the season for the Yankees and Mets, who are sending a combined four players to Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Citi Field. The pair write, “This season the city that never sleeps is saddled with a pair of snoozers” (USA TODAY, 7/12).

The city of Orlando has filed a lawsuit against the AFL Orlando Predators, claiming “the team owes it money and the team’s trying to make money it doesn’t deserve.” The city said that it only filed the lawsuit after the Predators “tried to make money off a sponsor at the Amway Center that was only” for the Magic (WFTV.com, 8/11).

Eastern Kentucky Univ. and Nelligan Sports Marketing have agreed to a long-term partnership giving NSM the exclusive rights to manage the school’s athletic corporate sponsorship program (NSM).
