Chicago Tightens Security For Blackhawks' Victory Parade

The Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks starting at 10:30am CT today will parade from United Center down Washington Street through downtown Chicago to a victory rally at Grant Park. The team will travel on double-decker buses to the rally, which is scheduled for 11:00am CT. City officials "warned fans not to bring alcohol and said any backpacks would be searched" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/27). Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said, "The Boston Marathon factors into our plan, as we've been discussing best practices in law enforcement and the briefings coming out of there" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 6/28).

Comcast SportsNet Chicago will televise live coverage of the parade and rally beginning at 9:00am CT (Comcast SportsNet).
