“I think it’s a cool idea, but logistically I don’t think it works as far as travel. … I mean, eight games a (season) you’ve got to come back to the mainland, and that’s a lot to ask of coaches and players to prepare for” – Vikings DE Jared Allen, on the idea of the NFL putting a franchise in London (CBSSPORTS.com, 6/20).

“The only way you can have a motor sports career is if you have a lot of money behind you. I would like to (move up), but it’s impossible. I have absolutely no sponsors” – Driver Ian Anderson, who is 18-0 this year in the USLCI Thunder Car division (LAS VEGAS REVIEW JOURNAL, 6/21).

“Val Ackerman is really on to something. I just think the next step is we all have to get behind it. If no action is taken, Val went to a lot of work for no reason” – Univ. of Maryland women’s basketball coach Brenda Frese, on Ackerman’s report assessing the current state of women’s basketball (WASHINGTON POST, 6/21).

“I wish the story was a little better than it is, but it’s not unexpected for us to be down a little bit at this point of the year. I think we knew going into the season that we had backloaded our schedule” – Fox Sports Media Group Senior VP/Programming & Research Mike Mulvihill, on ratings being down for Fox' national baseball broadcasts (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 6/21).
