Newark City Council Approves Devils Revenue Sharing Deal

The Newark City Council yesterday voted to approve a revenue sharing deal between the city and the Devils that "could end what Mayor Cory Booker once called 'an enraging five-year odyssey.'" Despite approving the measure by a 7-1 vote, council members said that the ongoing negotiations have left "permanent scars on some city leaders." Council member Mildred Crump, the lone "no" vote in the group, said Devils Owner Jeff Vanderbeek is "not a friend of the city" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 2/27).
