NHL Owners Casting Votes Today On CBA; Players Vote This Week

NHL owners at a BOG meeting today in N.Y. will cast ballots on a memorandum of understanding on the new CBA, with players "expected to vote electronically on Thursday and Friday." Training camps are expected to open Sunday, with a 48-game season beginning Jan. 19 (CP, 1/9). When owners vote today, they will be looking at a CBA deal "with some interesting revisions from the last time around" (GLOBE & MAIL, 1/9).

While it will not be on the official agenda at the BOG meetings, another "important item" will be under consideration: "whether Gary Bettman will keep his job" as Commissioner. He is expected to speak at a news conference today after the meeting (N.Y. TIMES, 1/9).
