A fan fell from the stands during last night's 49ers-Patriots game at Gillette Stadium and "was taken to an area hospital." The unidentified fan, who was alert and awake on the way to the hospital, "fell from the stands into the tunnel where the visiting team leaves the field." No further information about the fan's condition was immediately available (AP, 12/17).

The family of Patriots Owner Robert Kraft plans to donate $25,000 to help Newtown, Conn., recover from Friday's school shooting. Kraft: "It's not for us to make the decision on what to do with the money. But we're gonna help" (NFL.com, 12/16).

Tickets to the Jan. 26 TigerFest fan event at Comerica Park "sold out in about an hour" over the weekend. The event is returning after a "one-year hiatus because of construction" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 12/17). 

The UFC on Saturday announced that a Nick Diaz-Georges St-Pierre welterweight title bout will headline the March 16 UFC 158 event, "scheduled to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal" (ESPN.com, 12/16).
