Cowboys Draw Criticism For Having Josh Brent On Sidelines

The Cowboys’ decision to have DT Josh Brent on the sidelines of the team’s 27-24 OT win against the Steelers drew criticism from the CBS studio crew. Brent was charged with intoxicated manslaughter in the death of teammate Jerry Brown, and CBS’ Boomer Esiason said, “It was the last thing I thought I’d see today. I think it’s disgraceful by the Dallas Cowboys to put that young man on the sideline. … I think it’s insensitive and I think really it’s something that has to be looked at because it sends a really bad message.”

CBS’ Bill Cowher called it an “insensitive move” by the Cowboys, because “this isn’t just about Josh Brent. This is about everybody who’s involved with making those types of decisions” (“Steelers-Cowboys,” CBS, 12/16).
