Motorsports Marketing Forum: NASCAR-Twitter Partnership Explored

The 13th annual NASCAR Motorsports Marketing Forum, hosted by SBD/SBJ, continues today in Las Vegas. Morning sessions will include a presentation on the evolving advertising landscape from Ogilvy & Mather North America Chair & CEO John Seifert and a panel involving several track presidents discussing new ways to generate revenue. There will also be a featured session titled "Customer Service: How One Sports Franchise Created a Culture of Excellence" and a sponsors' panel titled, "Brand Perspective: Where Motorsports Fit in the Marketing Mix."

The opening day of the MMF closed yesterday with Twitter Head of Sports & Entertainment Omid Ashtari discussing the company’s partnership with NASCAR and what other sports entities are doing on the social media site that stands out. He said of the site highlighting tweets using the #NASCAR symbol, “We were very cautious around this. What we don’t want to do is change the consumer experience they’re used to. What we were doing was highlighting tweets in that search algorithm, anyway. We were putting them at the top.”
