Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy today appeared in a one-day exhibition match in Zhengzhou, China, in the "Duel at Lake Jinsha." Woods was expected to receive a $2M appearance fee, with McIlroy getting $1M (AP, 10/28).

The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has agreed to a deal to acquire 39% of Dorna Sports, which manages the MotoGP series, as well as a US$400M investment in F1. Under the F1 deal, CPPIB Credit Investments is financing $400M of a $1B "private high-yield loan" (CP, 10/26).

The WTA said that Mexico City, Singapore, Kazan and Tianjin are the "four cities in the race to succeed Istanbul" as host of the WTA Championships starting in '14 (AP, 10/28).

A crowd of 65,000 attended yesterday's F1 Indian Grand Prix in New Delhi, down from last year's crowd of 95,000 (REUTERS, 10/29).

Nearly 30,000 runners took part in Sunday's Marine Corps Marathon in DC, "and about 20,000 people were expected to cross the finish line" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 10/28).

A crowd of 6,208 attended the deciding leg of the two-match NASL championship Saturday at Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Tampa Bay Rowdies defeated the Minnesota Stars (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 10/28).
