Tour Championship Tees Off Today At East Lake Club In Atlanta

The PGA Tour Championship by Coca-Cola tees off today at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. While every golfer in the 30-person field has a mathmatical chance of winning the FedExCup, five golfers – Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil MickelsonNick Watney and Brandt Snedeker – could win it "no matter what" with a victory this week. Golf magazine's Cameron Morfit writes one can "pretty safely narrow this Tour Championship down" to McIlroy, Woods and Mickelson. With that trio "fighting it out at East Lake, it may be a bad year for long shots, and a great year to be a fan" (GOLF.com, 9/20).

McIlroy and Woods have been paired together for the first two rounds, and it marks "the fifth time in the last four tournaments that Woods and McIlroy have played in the same group and the eighth time this year" (AP, 9/19)

USA Today is running a special eight-page preview section around the Tour Championship that features full-page ads from United, Transitions Optical and the Southern Company (THE DAILY).
