Governments Providing Funds To Promote Montreal's NASCAR Race

The governments of Canada, the province of Quebec and the city of Montreal announced that they will provide C$800,000 to help promote the NASCAR Nationwide Series Napa Auto Parts 200 weekend Aug. 16-18 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Canadian government and Quebec's tourism ministry will each contribute C$300,000, while Montreal and its tourism arm will each put in C$100,000. Quebec agreed to the funding for three years, while the federal government "and the city are considering extending their funding beyond this year" (CP, 7/11).
