Kevin Johnson Flying In To N.Y. To Resolve Kings Arena Dispute

Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson today will meet with NBA officials and Kings Owners the Maloofs in N.Y. for "what appears to be an attempt at peacemaking following weeks of rancor that threaten to kill" an arena plan. The Maloofs yesterday briefed NBA owners on why they are "refusing to sign on" to a proposed financing plan. Johnson's staff yesterday released an open letter to the Maloof family reiterating that the city will not "make material adjustments to the current terms of the deal." After the BOG meetings conclude, NBA Commissioner David Stern will hold a press conference (SACRAMENTO BEE, 4/13).
