Doritos, M&M's And Volkswagen Spots Score Well With Consumers

The voting for the USA Today/Facebook Ad Meter continues until tomorrow at 6:00pm ET, but a panel of consumers gathered Sunday and "gave a clear sign that dogs are still a Super Bowl advertiser's best friend." The panel picked the Doritos spot featuring a Great Dane that "casually buries the family cat" and bribes the owner with Doritos as the top commercial. The runners-up also featured canines, including the Volkswagen spot featuring a dog getting in shape and the Skechers spot in which a french bulldog won a race against greyhounds (USA TODAY, 2/6).

The M&M's spot entitled, "It's That Kind of Party," took the top spot in the eighth annual Kellogg School Super Bowl Advertising Review. Other top-ranked spots from the review included Skechers and Dannon (Northwestern Univ.). Volkswagen's "Dog Strikes Back" was rated the favorite commercial according to McKee Wallwork Cleveland's and Knuckleheads' AdBowl (AdBowl). Honda's "Matthew's Day Off" featuring actor Matthew Broderick edged out Volkswagen's spot in voting on Hulu AdZone (Hulu).
