Justin Verlander Promotes "MLB 2K12" During "Conan" Appearance

Tigers P Justin Verlander, the "MLB 2K12" cover athlete, appeared on TBS’ “Conan” last night and promoted 2K Sports' upcoming video game. Host Conan O’Brien asked, “Do you like how you're depicted on the cover? You look kind of like a superhero here." Verlander: “They did some electricity on my arm which I like. ... That picture was taken in my garage, by the way.” The game again features the “Perfect Game Challenge,” in which a fan could win $1M if they pitch a perfect game. Verlander said, "A little bit different this year. You throw a perfect game and they're going to rate the perfect games. The top eight perfect games are going to compete in New York in a tournament."

O’Brien said, “I am told that you have a problem with me concerning the Conan blimp, is that right?” Verlander: “So here we are in the postseason in New York and you've got your blimp flying around out there.” O’Brien replied, “Yes I do, a giant orange blimp.” Verlander: “It's supposed to be a night game and this thing looks like the sun. It's huge (and I) had to stare at it the whole game because I'm a pitcher. So when I'm not pitching, ... every time I look up, I see this thing and I can’t help just envisioning your face on the side of this blimp and it’s just haunting me the whole series.” O’Brien joked, “The Yankees paid me a lot of money” (“Conan,” TBS, 1/11).
