Mavericks To Meet With President Obama At White House Today

The Mavericks today will visit President Obama at the White House in recognition of their '11 NBA championship, and the ceremony will air live at noon ET on CNN and NBA TV. The team is "taking a party of about 50 to the White House" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 1/9). Mavericks G Delonte West will not be one of the players attending the event. West, who pleaded guilty to weapons and traffic charges after a September '09 arrest, said, "That's what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can't go to the White House" (STAR-TELEGRAM.com, 1/7).
