Magic Johnson Will Have Increased Role In ESPN NBA Telecasts

Magic Johnson will have an increased on-air role at ESPN during the NBA season. Johnson and ESPN VP/Production Bob Rauscher will discuss the new duties during a teleconference today at noon ET. Starting on Christmas, the NBA HOFer will appear on ABC and ESPN pregame and halftime shows throughout the season; for the previous four years he appeared on Christmas Day and during the postseason. Johnson also will appear regularly on ESPN's news and information shows to discuss NBA matters. ESPN plans to continue to have Johnson conduct one-on-one interviews with NBA players during the season.

"Kia NBA Countdown" kicks the season off Sunday at 2:00pm on ABC before the Heat-Mavericks game.
