Mets Seeking Extension To Pay Back $25M MLB Emergency Loan

The Mets are "seeking at least a four-month extension to pay back" the $25M emergency loan they got from MLB last year as the team works "on closing the sales of minority stakes in the franchise." An unnamed source said, "An extension has been discussed with the Commissioner and after some dancing, it should be approved." MLB Commissioner Bud Selig reportedly has been "speaking to baseball owners to rally support." The Mets in the last few days made their '11 revenue-sharing payment of $20M, "meeting the Nov. 30 deadline and easing concerns" about the team's finances (N.Y. POST, 12/1).
