NBPA Exec Board Holding Internal Meeting On Lockout Issues

The NBPA Exec Board today is holding its "first in-person meeting since labor talks collapsed last Friday, and its first since reports of a rift in leadership began circulating." There is "hope" that talks between the union and the NBA "could resume Friday or Saturday" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/3). The union scheduled today's meeting "to either provide a few details on upcoming negotiation strategy or to bridge a chasm of differences, depending on what you believe" (L.A. TIMES, 11/3). Lakers G and NBPA President Derek Fisher held a conference call Tuesday night with the union's exec committee and "addressed the controversy surrounding his alleged meeting with the NBA" (ESPNLA.com, 11/2).

Meanwhile, Steve Nash also offered up a rare comment on the lockout in saying, “The owners are trying to paint us in a light that we’re causing the issues. … It’s great for the owners because to a fan, '50-50? That’s great.' But in any entertainment industry, the talent gets paid the majority of the money” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/3). Yesterday, free agent F Glen Davis on Twitter wrote, "Take the 51% man and let's play."
