The NFL Panthers' home game against the Jaguars Sunday "will be televised locally" after team sponsor A-B and Charlotte CBS affiliate WBTV "bought the unsold tickets to ensure the game would not be blacked out" (CHARLOTTE.com, 9/23).
The Chargers have received a 24-hour extension until 1:05pm PT today to sell enough tickets for Sunday's game against the Chiefs "to lift the local television blackout." As of last night, the team had about 3,900 unsold general tickets (SIGNONSANDIEGO.com, 9/22).
The Bengals last week announced that they had "no chance of selling out" Sunday's home opener against the 49ers, marking the "fifth straight home game that Cincinnati has failed to sell out" (AP, 9/18).
Vikings VP/Sales & Marketing and CMO Steve LaCroix earlier this week announced that Sunday's game against the Lions "will be televised locally 'as less than 1,500 tickets' are still available." The Vikings have tickets remaining for six home games this season as the team looks to "avoid having their first home televised blackout since the last game" of the '97 season (STARTRIBUNE.com, 9/20).
The Raiders have sold out Sunday's home opener against the Jets to "avoid a local blackout for just the second time in the last 16 home games." The Raiders have "sold out only one game in each of the past two seasons," and have 14 blackouts in their last 15 home games since the '09 season (AP, 9/22).
