Danica Patrick Reportedly Eyes Spot In Next Year's Daytona 500

GoDaddy.com will hold a news conference today to announce Danica Patrick's plans to drive in NASCAR full-time next season. It will stream the announcement live (Go Daddy). Sources said that the announcement was postponed from yesterday "because of delays in dealing with multiple parties involved in the process" (ESPN.com, 8/24). Patrick reportedly will attempt to make her Sprint Cup Series debut in the '12 Daytona 500, driving 8-10 races in the top-tier series for Stewart-Haas Racing. Patrick "does not plan to run a full Cup schedule until 2013" (THATSRACIN.com, 8/24).

Speed's Kyle Petty said, "She is a marketing machine. Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon aren't the marketing machine that she is. But at some point, the marketing and the talent have to meet to produce results. I'm just not seeing it yet" (USA TODAY, 8/25).
