Roger Goodell Scheduled To Speak At NFLPA's Rookie Symposium

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was scheduled to address the NFLPA rookie symposium this morning after union Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith asked him to speak at the event. This year's symposium at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Sarasota, Fla., is titled, "The Business of Football: Rookie Edition." Goodell and Smith "left the Twin Cities on the same flight Tuesday night." The "plan is for Goodell to speak at the symposium" around 8:00am ET today. The two then "immediately will fly back to Minneapolis and reconvene" CBA meetings with mediator Judge Arthur Boylan "after lunchtime" (SI.com, 6/28).

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh said of the current status of negotiations, "It seems like there's some good progress and good talks. The main thing is that they're talking and being able to interact with each other" (DETROIT NEWS, 6/29).
