Record Crowd On Hand As South Carolina Wins CWS Championship

A TD Ameritrade Park Omaha-record crowd of 26,721 attended last night's College World Series Championship series game, in which South Carolina beat Florida to win the title two years running. That surpasses the 25,882 for a South Carolina-Virginia CWS game at the new ballpark earlier this month. The per-game average of 22,977 is "the highest since 2005, when the CWS record average of 23,952 was set." The attendance was the "most for a CWS championship game," besting the '07 mark of 25,012 (NCAA.com, 6/29). One of the general-admission lines for last night's game was "about a half-mile" long (OMAHA.com, 6/28).
