Centerplate announced that it has renewed its hospitality deal with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association. Centerplate will continue to cater USSA events and plans to use athlete and event images on merchandise at various resort partners (Centerplate).

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon today will announce that the Royals and Cardinals will dedicate their June 17-19 "I-70 Series" in St. Louis to relief efforts for the city of Joplin. The teams have lined up a variety of awareness and fundraising efforts (Missouri Governor's Office).

Golfer Rory McIlroy this week conducted a two-day visit to Haiti, "his first official overseas trip as Unicef Ireland ambassador." McIlroy helped "distribute cholera prevention supplies to people displaced by the earthquake" last January (BBC.co.uk, 6/7).

Former U.S. Olympian Carl Lewis has "won an uncontested Democratic primary in a New Jersey state Senate race," but he "still has legal hurdles ahead before he can appear on the general election ballot in November." Republicans claim Lewis does not meet the state's four-year residency requirement (AP, 6/7).
