Glendale To Vote On Further Payment To NHL As Coyotes Owner

The city of Glendale tonight will vote on a resolution to put up another $25M "to satisfy the NHL" and have the league stay on as owner of the Coyotes "for one more season." Attempts will then be made to sell the club "to a buyer willing to keep the team in Glendale" (WINNIPEG FREE PRESS, 5/10). The resolution "buys time" for the city to "continue pursuing a team owner who will buy the Coyotes under terms that pass Arizona constitutional muster" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/10). Several media outlets reported that the "proposal is expected to pass" (AJC.com, 5/9).

Meanwhile, the Ice Edge Holdings group has informed prospective Coyotes buyer Matthew Hulsizer that it is "no longer interested in being part of the group to buy the team" (CALGARY SUN, 5/8).
