IN OTHER NEWS….

TIMES looks at the accounting practices of the United Way and reports that some United Way organizations, "trying to appear more successful and more efficient with their donors' money, are counting contributions in ways that make the numbers look more robust – and expenses look smaller" (N.Y. FINAL JEOPARDY!

Last night's "Final Jeopardy!" category was "The Presidency."

"He was the first man to become U.S. President as a result of the 25th Amendment."

LAUGH TRACK

THE MONOLOGUES:

CBS' David Letterman: "Everybody in the audience is from Schoharie, (NY).  It's part of our audience exchange program, and how that works is right now 462 people from (N.Y.) are in Schoharie watching Ed Scribner rewire his toaster. ... There's nothing more fun in Schoharie than hanging around the Alley Cat Diner and chewing the fat, which coincidently is the breakfast special. ... People say, 'How would you describe Schoharie?'  It's small.  It's cold.  It's distant.  No, no, no.  That's how you would describe my first wife. ... Schoharie is a small town.  It only has three Starbucks" ("Late Show," CBS, 11/18).

NBC's Jay Leno: "('Harry Potter') made something like $87[M] this past weekend and you know this is the second 'Harry Potter' film, and they predict when it's all said and done, there will be at least seven.  No, I'm sorry.  That's what they said about Jennifer Lopez weddings. ... So far, inspectors have turned up no offensive weapons and no defensive weapons.  Not in Iraq, last night's Lakers game. ... In fact, pregnant women are now taking DNA tests to prove that Lakers players aren't the real fathers. ... It seems 3.2 million people have signed up to have their name sent to Mars on a NASA exploration ship that's going up there next year.  Would you want to send your name into space?  I'd be afraid it would fall into the hands of some kind of intergalactic telemarketer. ... Several members of the Sacramento State football team are accused of spraying Pam on their jerseys to make it harder for the other team to tackle them.  They're not the first ones to do this.  The Cincinnati Bengals do it too, but the reason is different.  They spray it on so the eggs won't stick to them when the fans throw them. ... (Eagles QB) Donovan McNabb suffered a broken ankle yesterday.  Doctors said it snapped under the pressure of carrying the entire team" ("Tonight Show," NBC, 11/18).

LATE NIGHT LAUGHS:

Last night's "Top Ten" list was "Top Ten Reasons Being Mayor Of Schoharie Is The Best Job In The World," as read by Schoharie, NY, Mayor John Borst ("The Late Show," CBS, 11/18).

10) "Easy to reach consensus with the Budget Director, Transit Chief and Tax Commissioner because they're all me."

9) "My office has a breathtaking view of the Schoharie traffic light."

8) "Three of our last four presidents were Mayor of Schoharie."

7) "From Central Bridge to Gallupville, people hear my name and tremble."

6) "If three people like you, you're looking at a 90% approval rating."

5) "I'll probably get a nice note from Warner Bros. after the $600 my town spent this weekend on 'Harry Potter.'"

4) "Guess who gets to cut in line at the Carrot Barn?"

3) "I have use of the modified high-tech Boeing 747 known as 'Schoharie One.'"

2) "Dude, I'm the most powerful man in the world!"

1) " I can go on network television and tell Letterman, 'Screw you.'"
