LAUGH TRACK

NBC's Jay Leno: "Looks like Penthouse may go bankrupt. Let me ask you something. Where is the government on this one, okay? They want to bailout the airlines. They're even trying to help Enron. Everyone hates Enron. At least guys like Penthouse. Maybe a national Adopt-A-Pet program." Leno: "I think I figured out why Notre Dame has such a good football team. I think as a young boy in a Catholic school, you learn how to run real fast. ... I guess the big rumor is the next Celebrity Boxing match on Fox will be Joey Buttafuoco versus John Wayne Bobbit. It's part of Fox's 'Losers from the 90's' series. Do you think Bobbit will have a cut man? ... Only six games into the season, the 0-6 Detroit Tigers have fired their manager. Isn't that amazing? Detroit has a manager. They're 0-6, and they're not even the worst team in Detroit. Thank God for the Lions." Leno: "You can now get videos of baseball games with the boring parts edited out. Don't we have this already? It's called ESPN. ... Anna Kournikova apparently is dating singer Enrique Iglesias. It said in the paper he had three tennis courts installed in his house so that she could practice. And today, she said, 'Practice? What's that?'" ("Tonight Show," NBC, 4/9).

CBS' David Letterman: "There's some kind of a controversy where (N.Y. Mayor Michael Bloomberg) said that he smoked marijuana and enjoyed it. I wonder if this has anything to do with him leaving town every weekend. The mayor says he's not going to be bothered by this controversy about the marijuana, and he's just going to continue to work as hard as he can to try and get Phish back together" ("Late Show," CBS, 4/9).
