Former Univ. of North Carolina basketball coach ROY WILLIAMS was "honored" at halftime Saturday during UNC's game against N.C. State at the Dean E. Smith Center. When Williams, who coached the Tar Heels for 18 seasons, retired in April, his announcement ceremony had "limited attendance because of the pandemic." UNC’s '82 national championship team also was recognized Saturday for the 40th anniversary of late former coach DEAN SMITH's first title. Williams was an assistant coach for that team (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 1/30).

BUYERS & SELLERS: Packers QB AARON RODGERS at the end of November sold his "longtime, off-season home" in Del Mar, near San Diego, for $5.13M. The 5,770-square-foot Mediterranean-style home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It has been "completely renovated with a movie theater, wine cellar and game room, among many other amenities" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 1/28)....Former NBAer TAYSHAUN PRINCE sold his "waterfront mansion" in North Palm Beach for $7.47M. The 6,595-square-foot home features "features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, seven bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a pool, an elevator, a fireplace and a dock" (SOUTH FLORIDA BUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/31)....UFC HOFer TITO ORTIZ last month put his Huntington Harbour home on the market for $6M. He is "holding a series of estate sales" inside the luxury house, featuring "an ornately carved four-post bed, a long dining table that seats eight, high-end kitchen appliances and a mirror-surfaced dresser." Accessories include a "Buddha statue and arcade games." More than 100 people "showed up at Friday’s event" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 1/29).

NAMES: AMRIT MAGAR has been "found guilty of stalking" tennis player EMMA RADUCANU. Magar was convicted on Friday after he was "captured several times on door camera footage" at Raducanu's house in South London, where she "lives with her parents" (REUTERS, 1/29)....WNBA Chicago Sky Strength and Conditioning Coach ANN CROSBY provided hip, knee and ankle joint exercises in a piece for the WSJ (WALL STEET JOURNAL, 1/29)....HOPE SOLO, CLINT DEMPSEY and SHANNON BOXX have been "elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame" (REUTERS, 1/30)....Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati announced that its new planned athletic complex opening in fall '23 will be named Staubach Stadium "in honor" of '60 graduate ROGER STAUBACH, a Pro Football HOFer (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 1/28).
