Jordan Brand Draws Praise For Unveiling First Women's-Only Sneaker Collection

Jordan Brand held its Future of Flight event in L.A. over the weekend, and while the "main attraction" was the unveiling of the NBA All-Star uniforms, the collection that "drew the most attention ... was Jordan Brand's first ever women's line," according to Colin Ward-Henninger of CBSSPORTS.com. The line is "something that pretty much everyone agreed was far overdue." Model Aleali May was the "first female collaborator on a pair of men's and women's Jordans," and her design, the Air Jordan 1 x Aleali May, "dropped in October." The timing of the release "seems fitting, given the current climate in the country." The inaugural Jordan women's collection is "appropriately titled, 'The Season of Her.'" Jordan Brand President Larry Miller said, "It just took us time to get to the space where we could do it, and do it right. We could have done it sooner, and we probably should have done it sooner, but I feel good about the fact that we are where we are now" (CBSSPORTS.com, 1/26).
