NFL Shop To Donate Proceeds From Sales Of Eagles' Super Bowl T-Shirts To Philly Schools

The Official NFL Shop tweeted last night that "all of the proceeds" from sales of its Eagles Super Bowl LII shirts "would benefit the Philadelphia School District’s not-for-profit arm," according to Patricia Madej of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. This comes after Eagles DE Chris Long and OT Lane Johnson on Monday took to Twitter to challenge the NFL to "donate the proceeds." The move by Long follows steps the two players have "taken with their own underdog-themed gear." The Official NFL Shop had sent a "playful tweet" to Long on Monday afternoon, suggesting that its T-shirt of a dog wearing an Eagles collar "would 'go really well'" with his dog mask. The masks and other dog merchandise "quickly became a popular embrace of the team’s underdog status throughout the playoffs." Long "retweeted the message and suggested the NFL 'should donate the proceeds to charity.'" Johnson then followed up with, “So how much $ is going to @fundPHLschools?” The masks "promptly sold out on Amazon" after the Eagles' win over the Falcons in the NFL divisional round, "leading Johnson to sell his own 'HOME DOGS GONNA EAT' T-shirts, which benefit The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia." Johnson also "set aside some dog masks for Philly-based Oldies.com to sell online, also to benefit the fund." Those "quickly sold out, too" (PHILLY.com, 1/23).
