John Wall Says Change In Adidas Leadership Played Key Role In Signing New Deal

Wizards G John Wall suggested that a change in leadership at Adidas "was a big reason" he signed a new endorsement deal with the company, according to Chase Hughes of NBC SPORTS WASHINGTON. Wall said, "The guys that was there before when I was there got fired or laid off, so they have a whole new team. It's just not me going back. It's a brand new start because it's a whole new crew over there and new guys running the show." He added that he did not re-up with the brand in '15 because its contract offer was "laced with incentives he was not comfortable with." Hughes noted after the two sides split, Wall "placed a bet on himself to test the free agent sneaker market." It is unknown whether a new Wall signature shoe is "on the way" to join the John Wall 1s and 2s. Wall said, "You've gotta play yourself into a signature shoe, so I think with my talent I have an opportunity to get another one" (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 1/10).
