U.K.-Based Eleven Sports Signs Deal For Rights To 120 NBA G League Games

The NBA G League has signed a deal with London-based Eleven Sports that gives the network live TV and digital rights for 120 regular-season games this season. The deal calls for Eleven Sports to show G League games in the U.S., Belgium, Luxembourg, Singapore and Taiwan. Most games will be shown with local language commentary in each market. Eleven Sports paid an undisclosed fee for the rights. Both the NBA and Eleven Sports will sell advertising for the games. The deal comes after the G League last month signed a deal with Twitch to stream six games per week this season. The G League also is broadcast on ESPN and NBA TV, while games are streamed on Facebook Live. “It is all about increasing our exposure,” said NBA Senior VP/Global Media Distribution & Business Affairs David Denenberg. “The league is experimenting in many respects and this is another example of that.” Eleven Sports last month signed a five-year renewal for NBA rights in Taiwan and the company also has NBA rights in Belgium, Singapore and Luxembourg. The company’s specific G League schedule and production has not been determined, but the deal begins tomorrow with coverage of the NBA G League Showcase. Denenberg said he expects that the deal with Eleven Sports will be the final media agreement for the G League’s '17-18 season. "It’s likely that this is the current roster,” he said. “We knew Eleven Sports because we have an existing relationship with them, but they are starting to get a presence in the U.S.” Final production elements have not been completed, but Denenberg said the games on Eleven Sports could include commentary from former NBA players.
