Sources: John Wall Returns To Adidas After Two Years Of Testing Shoe Free Agency

Wizards G John Wall has "agreed to a five-year endorsement contract with Adidas," according to sources cited by Shams Charania of YAHOO SPORTS. Wall returns to Adidas after "testing shoe free agency over the past couple of years." Sources said that Wall prioritized the "ability to build with the brand, align his businesses and community efforts, and work closely on ideas" with entertainers Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. Wall "started his professional career with Reebok before leaving for Adidas" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 1/7). In DC, Scott Allen noted during Wall's rookie season in '10-11, rumors "swirled that his Reebok shoes contributed to him missing 13 games with foot and knee injuries." Wall signed with Adidas in '13, and the brand subsequently "unveiled two signature shoes for Wall, the J Wall 1 and the J Wall 2." The second "hit the shelves on Oct. 31, 2015, one month after Wall’s contract with Adidas expired." A few months after his contract with Adidas expired, Wall "fired his agent, Dan Fegan, and replaced him" with Cavaliers F LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. Given that most of Paul’s clients, including James and 76ers G Ben Simmons, have "shoe deals with Nike, many expected Wall to follow suit or perhaps sign with Jordan Brand" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 1/8).
